Changing the Format of Driver’s Licenses in Ukraine: New Cabinet Resolution
If someone loves living in an era of change, we have some news for you—Ukraine is changing the format of driver’s licenses and the procedure for obtaining them.
The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution aimed at creating convenient conditions for obtaining driver’s licenses and improving the procedure for exams and driver qualifications.
The new driver’s licenses will include unique codes that provide extended information about the owner and the vehicle.
Among the new codes will be:
- Codes indicating restrictions, such as driving at certain times or with limited speed.
- Features in vehicle management, such as modified accelerator, transmission, or braking systems.
- Medical indicators of the driver, such as the need for glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, or limb prosthetics.
- Administrative aspects.
Additionally, if a driver takes the test in a car with an automatic transmission, their driver’s license will have a code allowing them to drive only automatic transmission vehicles.
Furthermore, the theoretical exam on traffic rules will be valid for two years. If a driver obtains two categories of licenses simultaneously, the exam must be taken for the higher category.
